Bentbrook is my trail name, and nature is my retreat, that entity which puts in perspective all else in my life. And so I try to follow John Muir’s imperative, to “[k]eep close to Nature’s heart…and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.”  That means I seek out hiking, camping, backpacking, geocaching, and more, and this blog is the place I come to collect my thoughts when I have returned from experiencing nature’s treasures–“beauteous forms,” as Wordsworth calls them, that, I would agree–“‘mid the din/Of towns and cities, I have owed to them/In hours of weariness, sensations sweet,/Felt in the blood, and felt along the heart;/And passing even into my purer mind,/With tranquil restoration”–to borrow from Wordsworth. I confess I am a gear junkie, a budget-conscious base-weight reducer, and a dabbler in the realms of DIY and MYOG. Welcome!

Hi, Slina. I’m happy to consider reviewing items if they are sent to me free of charge with free shipping (for example, via Amazon) and with the understanding that any review would be fair and objective, based on actual use and experience. If you are interested, please let me know.

    Hi Brent,

This is Mo from Aqua Quest, I just noticed you wrote a review on our Safari Square tarp on Trailspace. First off, it’s a really comprehensive, well-written and fair review so thank you.
    Let’s talk about some more!
Also, I would love to see if you can send me the full-res versions of those photos?
We are always looking for real-life examples of our gear in use, and your photos are great!
    Let me know!
You can reach me at 1-844-775-7770 or at my email (provided below)

Hi, Mo. My apologies for the delay in replying. Thank you for your comments. Because the photos are part of the Trailspace.com review, an online community with whom I’ve signed an ethics agreement as a member of their review corps, the person to ask about photos or reviews is Alicia MacLeay there (you can message her through the Trailspace site under the People heading). I do not mind, and I’ll let Alicia know that, but since they appear in Trailspace media that is, for me, her call. Thanks again for taking the time to comment.
